WAYBACK MACHINE

VOLUME #2

Does anyone even remember where the term "Wayback Machine" originated?  It was from "Rocky and Bullwinkle TV Show".  Now, don't try to tell me that you didn't watch "Rocky and Bullwinkle".  C'mon, everyone did.  It had some of the best tongue in cheek humor if its time.  I can still hear Rocky say, "Hey Bullwinkle, watch me pull a rabbit  out of my hat."

Dudly Doright, Nell, and Snidely Whiplash

Natasha, Boris, Rocky, and Bullwinkle

Frostbite Falls:
Rocky & Bullwinkle's hometown, is actually based on a real place, International Falls, Minnesota. He nicknamed it Frostbite Falls after one reported called the area the "icebox of America". On a map, located on the northern border of Minnesota, right next to Canada, thus the "international" in the name. Today, its known for its recreational activities and beautiful national parks.

Kirward Derby, Legal Smeagle
In the Missouri Mish Mash story line, everyone is searching for The Kirward Derby. This is a hat that supposedly make the wearer extremely smart, but is later reveled to make you stunningly stupid. The name Kirward Derby is really a pun of Durward Kirby, the co-host of "Candid Camera" from 1961-1966. Mr. Kirby tried to sued Jay Ward Inc. for the parody of his name. In reply Ward said, " Please sue us, we love the publicity." The legality of the case was not strong enough and Durward Kirby dropped it. Durward Kirby passed away in March of 2000.

Rocky: Hey Bullwinkle, we're in real trouble now!
Bullwinkle: Oh good, Rocky! I hate that artificial kind!

The Story of Moosylvania

The best cartoon in the history of the universe, bar none, is Rocky And His Friends, otherwise known as The Bullwinkle Show. Their incredible combination of political commentary, silly animation, rapid-fire delivery and horrible puns was, and is, unique, and the show still has a cult following even now, over thirty years later.

It's also probably the only cartoon in the world which could get away with dialogue like this:

(still: Rocky, Bullwinkle and Natasha)

SCENE: College campus. Rocky and Bullwinkle come across a disguised Natasha, weeping.

Natasha: Boo hoo hoo!

Rocky: Hold it, Bullwinkle! That sounds like a lady in distress!

Bullwinkle: So?

Rocky: Gee, didn't you ever read the Hero's Handbook?

Bullwinkle: I can never get past the picture of General MacArthur on the cover.

Rocky: Well, Chapter Two says we should always help ladies in distress.

Bullwinkle (to Natasha): Hi, there, lady! Are you in distress?

Natasha: This dress, that dress, who cares? I'm distraught!

Bullwinkle (to Rocky): Do we help ladies in distraught?
